Painted a cheerful bright yellow on the main road near The Crane on the south-east coast, Cutters is a much-loved Barbadian deli, bar and general store that has been part of island life since 2004. Owned and run by Bajan Roger Goddard, it’s a relaxed, friendly spot built around the classic local sandwich — the “cutter” — served on the veranda or out in the hammock garden, with a cold beer or one of Roger’s famous rum punches in hand.

The menu runs from flying-fish, ham and roast-beef cutters to pizza, salads, daily soups, fresh coffee and smoothies, plus an ever-changing specials board. Cutters is best known, though, for its award-winning Very Special Rum Punch (VSRP) — widely rated among the best on the island — which you can sip in, take away, or even learn to make at one of the venue’s hands-on rum-punch classes. They’ll also pack and deliver picnic baskets straight to nearby Crane Beach.
