Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lord’s Castle is a large oceanfront all-inclusive resort set on the historic grounds of Sam Lord’s Castle in St Philip. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the property combines contemporary accommodation and extensive resort facilities with a fascinating connection to Barbados’ past. The original castle was largely destroyed by fire in 2010, but its remaining ruins are preserved as a historic landmark within the grounds.
The resort features 422 spacious rooms and suites, six swimming pools and a choice of restaurants and bars, including the Burnt Cask Rum Bar, which showcases more than 90 Caribbean rums. Guests can also enjoy the Island Essence Spa, a 24-hour fitness centre, tennis and pickleball courts, a kids’ club and regular entertainment. The beach is accessible from the resort, although the Atlantic waters can be rough, so a complimentary shuttle operates to alternative swimming beaches several times a week.
